Nebraska Legislative District Candidates Forum Held at Adams County Fairgrounds March 11, 2008 - The three candidates vying for the seat of State Senator Carroll Burling met at the Adams County Fairgrounds in Hastings at an event sponsored by the Farm Bureau. Marvin "Butch" Hughes, Chuck Shoemaker, and Dennis Utter each made opening statements and then responded to written questions from the audience. Questions were asked on a variety of topics, with many relating to agriculture. At the conclusion of the 90-minute forum each candidate made a closing statement. Because The Hastings Times did not take notes at the event, it would be unfair to characterize or comment on the statements and answers given by the candidates. The Hastings Times will, however, prepare a questionnaire for each of the three candidates and post their responses on this website. Check back late in March to see the candidates responses. The primary election for this non-partisan race is Tuesday, May 13, 2008. |
